Symphony of the Universe: The Wedding

Three months passed so quickly. Three months ago was a big day of my life, my wedding. My partner and I have been working on the wedding concept from the very start- concept to execution.

We named our reception party on May 29^th, 2016, Symphony of the Universe.

What is it all about, right? Haha

 

Well, first thing first, I always have this interest about universe, space, galaxy and stars ever since I was very young. I used to want to be an astronaut, dreamt to work for NAZA. The idea of exploration always amuses me. So … anyway. So it started from there, we discussed. He also has always been interested on the topic too and in addition, the big bang. Our initial idea was let’s just make the theme appears like universe [mood and tone].

 

Thereafter, I composed the kind of the ‘universe’ look and feel I want. Going though different boards, I thought, “wait a minute, it’s not just universe… it’s a vintage universe”. I smiled happily. This is done. I can go on. And guess what, after telling people about this, nobody understood. They commended it was just like two different words putting together randomly. There were no pre-perception images coming out of anyone after hearing. Ummm…I did not have the exact and clear image I wanted either, it was a random name given from several mood boards.

 

 

The idea went crazy for a while, shifting from the actual ‘universe’ look and feel to ‘infinity’ sign, kaleidoscope, all of the representation of universe. It had been a crazy two months experimental and not knowing what this vintage universe thing is. But I liked.

 

 

As the event was getting closer and closer, we knew we really had to wrap this up. So we went back the original boards, did homework by going through different references of backdrop designs.

 

There! we got it.

The vintage universe theme was the combination of vintage object with the universe application. For love, nothing couldn’t be seen as vintage as red roses- romantic, easy symbol, classic.

We were really happy about how this whole event turns out. It might not be the very perfect one but I was happy enough that this concept in my head went somewhere I had never though of.

 

Hahaha and actually I had never dreamt of the red tone wedding. I love dark green OMG! Love this color. My partner did not like. End of the story.

 

What I wanted to say is that if anyone has ever stuck with trying to come up with the distinctive illustration, my tips here is simple. Don’t forget the old school way, making many different collages, finding the unity of thought that keeps coming back to your mind, believe in it, working around the ‘yes’ and ‘no’- what is, what is not. Decide. Be confident.
